Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation | President

I look forward to a two-way dialogue with my coachees. I know that I will benefit just as much as you from our open conversations. I have the benefit of many years of observing (and benefitting from) others as they coach/mentor/ lead others. I anticipate a journey of discovery and learning.

My motto for our work together is: Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.

We will no doubt be surprised and inspired with where we end up. Let’s get started!

This opportunity brings together two things that I love greatly - Coca-Cola Scholars and coaching. I know that there is no substitute for a good listener and someone who can help you think and work through challenges and opportunities. An effective coach is not someone who tells the other person what and how to do something, but instead is someone who helps him/her determine their own methods, objectives and measures of success. Being an effective coach is an art and a science. I'd love to give back to Scholars in this way!

“Perhaps our greatest human freedom is that we get to choose our vantage point – some are more full of life than others.” -- Maria Popova

I have had the good fortune of working with and learning from several excellent coaches in recent years. Each one has pushed me to develop my own leadership philosophy and to develop and bring my core values into every area of my life. They have been essential to my growth and success as a leader. I hope to help our Scholars “go up to the balcony so that they may see the whole stage” through important conversations and guiding dialogue. It is a skill that will be invaluable to them in their young lives and set them up for even greater success.

Friends, strangers, and especially students along the way often asked me how I bridged my passion for access to medicines, jet-setting, and non-stop learning.  I finally realized that my real passion was sharing the tools of my journey with those who also wanted to forge a unique path, but just didn’t know to create it.  Now, I coach students full-time to help them find the right career for them, while overcoming the obstacles that hold them back.  I've seen so many bright, motivated people shy away from their dreams for lack of confidence and opportunities.  We all need someone in our corner cheering us on, and I am energized to be that person for our next generation of Coca-Cola Scholars.

"To whom much is given, much is required." I live by these words as I teach my students, mentor youth in my city, serve my church and community, and love my family. I have been blessed with loving and supportive parents, caring teachers, and encouraging mentors throughout my life. Being a mentor and a coach is my small way to pay it forward and give back.

Scholars have a vast array of career, community, and character-building resources at their fingertips. I'm thrilled about encouraging them to identify, explore, and engage with the ones that are most supportive of their particular visions. I value the power that we all have to personalize our paths and journeys.

Serving as a Coca-Cola Scholar Coach is an ideal way for me to give back to the Scholars family and legacy of the program. To contribute to the development journey of our newest scholars means I am contributing the program's imprint on the next generation of leaders. What an honor and special responsibility. I have been the proud beneficiary of generous coaching and mentoring and as I result I am passionate about paying forward the same.

Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation | Alumni Engagement Manager

As the alumni relations manager at CCSF I love connecting with our Scholars in any way that I can! Working with young adults has been a passion of mine for many years.  I have over 15 years of experience with this through my church small groups, leading mission trips/teams and in an informal way with my nieces and nephew and other young people in my life.  This is a great opportunity for me to get to know another Coke Scholar better while challenging myself to meet their needs as a coach in a more formal way through CCL.

It's an honor to be a part of this mentorship program and I'm excited to get started! Coca-Cola Scholars are incredible people and I'm grateful to have the opportunity for us to learn from each other. College is the best time ever (go Hokies!), and it can also be stressful - I'm looking forward to listening and helping my coachee navigate the journey.

No matter our age and stage in life, we can be inspired by the success of others. Although our definition of success may change, we have the ability to determine what that definition is at any given point and time. The support and inspiration I have received from past mentors has been instrumental. As a coach, I feel that building an authentic relationship with my coachee is vital. I want to encourage him or her to embrace challenges and understand the value of life experiences. My life has been enriched as a result of being a member of the Coca-Cola Scholar Family. I am honored to be a part of this process.

I work with college students and witnessing their matriculation is one of the most exciting aspects of my position. Being on the sideline of a Coke Scholar’s life to cheer them on through that growth and maturity process would be extra special. Also, the coaching program would really help me improve in assisting myself and others bring intentionality and ownership to certain areas of life.

As the first person in my family to go to a four-year college, I experienced firsthand the difficulties of navigating college and then professional school. What I found through my experiences serving as a career counselor at two public universities for over four years is that the challenges I faced were not unique to me. Having had wonderful support from my own mentors and sponsors, I am honored to give back to the Coca-Cola Scholars community as a coach.

I would like to continue to support young Scholars as they work through their first year of undergrad. I know how challenging this transition can be, and would love to serve as a sounding board for Scholars. As a Teach For America corps member, I helped youth internalize core leadership values. I look forward to fostering an environment conducive to growing skills such as self-awareness, inspiration, empathy, and vision!

The tools, knowledge and insights that I’ve gained over the years from coaching relationships have made an undeniable impact in my life, personally and professionally.  I am excited to have the opportunity to give back to the Scholars network in a more personal way and I look forward to connecting with Scholars as they explore and navigate each new phase of life.

Coaching: Eamon Bracht, Caroline Leadmon

Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation | Director, Undergraduate Scholars Program

I'm a first-generation college student, and the most important support I received during my first-year of college were the open, trusting, and challenging conversations with professors and advisors who were invested in me and cared about my sucess. For nearly 20 years in working with high-ability, high-achieving college students, I've tried to pay forward that great service. What I value most in my career is seeing the light go off in students' eyes or hearing the "AHA!" in their voices as we discuss what's important to them and how they can best live those values in the world. I'm looking forward to learning from my Coachees.

I would like to be a coach for other Coca-Cola Scholars because the foundation has already given so much to me, and this is another positive way that the alumni can connect and build strong working relationships with Scholars across various years. Some of my strongest and most valuable friendships are other Coke Scholars, and I look forward to supporting other Scholars in any way that I can.
