For the most effective Coaching session, be sure you are in a quiet, private area where you can talk with your Coach, with as few distractions as possible. Use earbuds or earphones, too, if you feel necessary!

For Your Fifth (and Final!) Coaching Session

The focus for the remaining Coaching session will be assessing your progress towards achieving the goal (or goals!) you've been working on with your Coach. Think about what you've set out to achieve, the barriers you've encountered, the successes you've had, and the work that remains. Our hope is that at the end of the formal Coaching engagement with your Coke Scholars Coach, you'll be able to "self-coach" in the future when new opportunities or challenges arise. Think about the questions you can ask yourself along the way, and start self-coaching!

BEFORE Your Fifth Coaching Session

  • Reflect on the progress you have made on your SMART Goal(s) as well as the progress yet to make, and be prepared to review this with your Coach
  • Revisit both the ValueAble leadership assessment completed for the earlier sessions as well as the Social Identity Map created earlier.
    • Reflect on how your ValueAble leadership preferences and values have (or have not) shown up in your first year of college
    • Likewise, reflect on how your identities have shown up and supported you (or have not) through this first year. Can you identify new values that you have clarified for yourself? Are there values you identified as important that have perhaps moved further away from your core identity?
It may be useful to create an entirely new Social Identify Map if you feel you have changed significantly over the last several months.
  • Read this VERY short article about “taking the balcony view”
