Meet the 2019 LDI Facilitators

TJ Abrams


 

TJ Abrams, a 2001 Coca-Cola Scholar, is the Global Brand Director for Holiday Inn Brands at the InterContinental Hotels Group. Previously he worked for The Coca-Cola Company in Atlanta, GA, having various roles at the company including Global Senior Brand Manager on Sprite & Adults, Brand Manager on Coca-Cola, Coke Zero and Vault brand.  He joined Coca-Cola with previous experience working in marketing at Lowe's Home Improvement. In 2013, TJ was named to Forbes 30 under 30 list for Marketing and Advertising. He currently serves as a co-chair on the Alumni Advisory Board for the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation. He earned a BA in Journalism and Mass Communications from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in 2005 and an MBA with a concentration in Marketing from Duke in 2009. TJ lives in Atlanta with his wife Bianca and their two children.

Cesar Aviles


 

Cesar Aviles, a 2001 Scholar, was born in El Salvador and immigrated to the USA with his family in 1996. Currently, he resides in Fairfax, VA, with his wife. Cesar has been involved with different programs aimed at humanitarian relief and preservation of the environment. He has volunteered to work with organizations including the National Cathedral Program, Habitat for Humanity, United Nations Youth Program and Toastmaster International organization.  As a Senior Performance Manager for Frontline Performance Group, Cesar is passionate about developing front line staff and help them reach new levels of responsibility. In his view, the most compelling formula to create change is finding the intrinsic motivational elements every individual has to succeed. Cesar holds a degree in International Relations from Bowdoin College. In his spare time, he enjoys playing sports, writing poetry, reading and traveling anytime time permits. He is grateful and honored to serve as a LDI facilitator and looking forward meet the new Coca-Cola Scholars to join this amazing community.

Rui Bao


 

 Rui Bao, a 2007 Scholar, is thrilled to be back at Scholars weekend as it's the 10 year anniversary of her own Scholars weekend. She currently lives in San Francisco and is Head of Data and New Schools at Caliber Schools, a charter network in the Bay Area. In her role, Rui is responsible for enabling data driven instruction and overseeing Caliber's digital software portfolio in order to provide a rigorous education in underserved communities. Prior to Caliber, Rui was a Senior Associate at McKinsey & Company, where she worked closely with clients on a variety of topics ranging from developing long-term strategy to improving and sustaining operational efficiency. Rui graduated from Yale with a degree in Ethics, Politics, and Economics 

Andrew Barnhill


 

Andrew Barnhill is a 2006 Scholar from Wilmington, NC, and currently splits his time between North Carolina and Washington, DC. A graduate of Duke University, Andrew was the Democratic Nominee for NC Senate in the 9th District in 2016. He is currently the State Director of New Leaders Council of North Carolina, a nonprofit designed to train the next generation of leaders. He is also a government affairs professional with clients in NC and DC. Earlier in his career, Andrew combined his interests in faith and politics while working for Eleison Group, a faith-based firm that works with political campaigns. After law school, he also worked in the Washington public policy department of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz and began his career in the Office of Congressman Mike McIntyre. During his time on the Executive Council of the North Carolina Democratic Party, Andrew has led several major initiatives, including oversight of the endorsement process for the NC Court of Appeals. In 2008, Andrew received the President’s Voluntary Service Medal from President George W. Bush based on his record of service to the community. Follow him on Twitter @ATBarnhill.

Jake Basden


 

Jake Basden, a 2002 Scholar, grew up in Oklahoma and attended the University of Oklahoma.   Now he lives in Nashville, TN, where he is the Head of Publicity for Big Machine Label Group, the #1 independent record label in the world- home to music stars Taylor Swift, Steven Tyler, Tim McGraw, Reba, Rascal Flatts, Florida Georgia Line, Thomas Rhett and 30+ artists.  Jake previously worked in New York City for Edelman and Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide.   

Jesse Bernal


 

Jesse M. Bernal, a 2000 Scholar, is Vice President for Inclusion and Equity at Grand Valley State University in West Michigan, and oversees the university’s coordinated efforts to advance diversity and campus climate for students, faculty, and staff. Previously, he served as Director for Diversity and Inclusion at Santa Clara University, Senior Diversity Officer at the University of California Office of the President, and other academic and student affairs roles in the UC system. Nationally, Jesse is active in organizations focused in increasing access to and affordability in education including the National Association of Chief Diversity Officers in Higher Education, National Conference on Race and Ethnicity, American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education, and the National Conference on LGBT Equality. He volunteers and consults regularly on diversity strategic planning and organizational climate assessments for non-profit, community, and corporate institutions, and volunteers in the arts and leadership development non-profit organizations. Jesse received his M.A. In Political Science from Westmont College (Santa Barbara) and Ph.D. in Cultural Perspectives in Education from UC Santa Barbara. His research focuses on education policy and law, organizational climate, social justice education, and student engagement theory. While a graduate student, he was appointed to the UC Board of Regents. Jesse is originally from south Texas.

Roberta Capp


 

 Roberta Capp, a 1999 Coke Scholar, went to High School in Florida, moved to Colorado and attended the University of Colorado, Boulder, where she majored in MCDB and minored in Biochemistry. After finishing undergrad she attended Harvard Medical School and completed an Emergency Medicine residency at the Harvard Affiliated Emergency Medicine Program. Because she was scared of no longer being a student (just kidding!), she went on to do a fellowship at Yale, named the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars program. Today, she works as an attending physician in Emergency Medicine at the University of Colorado, School of Medicine and at Colorado Access Medicaid. She has a dual role, in academics and health policy. In her spare time, she loves to travel and be outdoors. The past few years, she has traveled to Thailand, Indonesia, Australia, Mexico and a few places locally. In Colorado she loves to hike, try new recipes and hang out with family and friends.  

Ashley Chang


 

 Ashley Chang, a 2006 Scholar, leads product marketing for Google Docs. She became a Googler in 2010—and has worked on a variety of teams including the Google Cultural Institute in London/Paris, Google Wallet (with two other CCSF scholars!), Android Pay and Large Customer Sales. As the Chair of the Asian Google Network (AGN), an official employee resource group dedicated to professional development and community engagement, Ashley has developed and led AGN leadership teams across international offices.  Prior to Google, Ashley enjoyed her experiences at NBC, ABC and The Coca-Cola Company (as a marketing intern at the 2008 Beijing Olympics Games). She’s a California girl currently exploring the heart of New York City—and loves playing volleyball, traveling (one more continent to go!) and taking moderately long walks on the beach. 

Charles Chang


 

A 1999 Scholar and native of New York, Charles Chang is now a proud resident of Boston, where he is an Assistant Professor of Linguistics at Boston University. He did his undergraduate studies at Harvard University. After graduation, he taught English as a Fulbright Fellow in Korea, and then went to UC Berkeley for doctoral study in Linguistics. In the middle of his Ph.D., he took a year off to complete a degree in English and Applied Linguistics at the University of Cambridge, where he was a Gates Cambridge Scholar at Trinity College and became an expert navigator of the River Cam. His Ph.D. dissertation at Berkeley, which reported significant effects of elementary second-language learning on learners' production of their native language, led him to his current research program, which investigates the cognitive organization and interaction of multiple language systems in people who speak and/or are exposed to more than one language (i.e., bilinguals and multilinguals). His academic travails following his Ph.D. took him to the University of Maryland, New York University, the CUNY Graduate Center, Rice University, and SOAS, University of London, before joining the faculty at Boston University in 2015. These days, outside of teaching, research, and professional service, Charles spends his time volunteering, working on his ice-skating skills, and, of course, keeping in touch with former Coke Scholars (still some of his best friends!).

Kevin Chung


 

 Kevin Chung is a 1990 Scholar who is currently living the dream working as an in-house attorney at his favorite video game company, Sony PlayStation.  On the side he moonlights as the Stanford's Men's Basketball team Official Scorer. The Coca- Cola Scholars Foundation helped him realize his dream of attending a private university. As a former member of the CCSF National Selection Committee, and now the Alumni Advisory Board, he is proud to give back of his time and talents and have a positive influence on the next generation of Coke Scholars.

Hilary Corna


 

 Hilary Corna is a 2003 Scholar originally from Columbus, Ohio who currently resides in Austin, TX. She is the Author of the bestselling book, One White Face, that is now being adapted for television. She is an entrepreneur running her own agency as a Keynote Speaker and Operations Consultant for nearly a decade. She formerly served as Senior Executive Officer for Toyota in Singapore traveling across 14 Asian countries for three years. She loves Asian karaoke, two-steppin', improv and listening to Rhianna while wakeboarding. Her bigger goal in life, though, is to have a little girl so she can dress her in Hello Kitty.

Marc Eichenbaum


 

Marc Eichenbaum, a 2000 Scholar, serves as the Special Assistant to the Mayor for Homeless Initiatives in Houston. Marc is a licensed attorney who specializes in public policy, strategic communications and governmental affairs. First appointed by former Houston Mayor Annise Parker, and subsequently by Mayor Sylvester Turner, Marc manages the City's involvement in The Way Home, Houston's nationally recognized homeless housing initiative. Previously, Marc oversaw external affairs for the City's Housing and Community Development Department - serving as the Department's spokesperson while overseeing community and legislative relations. In addition to successfully advocating for the passage of over 200 pieces of legislation, Marc worked on a variety of transformative community revitalization and economic development initiatives. Marc received a dual B.A. in Government and American Studies from The University of Texas at Austin and a J.D. from South Texas College of Law. A member of the CCSF Alumni Advisory Board, Marc also serves on the board of the Holocaust Museum Houston and on various other leadership committees in Houston. Marc is a Leadership Houston Fellow, New Leaders Council Fellow, and member of UT’s Friars Society.

LaToya Franklyn


 

 LaToya Franklyn, a 2003 Scholar, is an actress, author and attorney. She attended Vanderbilt University, UC Berkeley School of Law and Harvard School Law. She is the author of the book College as Reality, a step-by-step guide through the college and scholarship application process, which also documents her own experience with the process and gives the reader an intimate view into her life growing up as a Trinidadian immigrant in Brooklyn, New York. She also runs the College as Reality program, which is a college readiness workshop series hosted in New York City and Los Angeles schools. LaToya is a strong believer that ALL dreams are possible. LaToya has appeared in several national commercials, TV shows, movies and performed in theater productions. She believes through the grace of God, she is limitless.

Michaella Gallina


 

 Michaella Gallina is a 2006 Scholar and the Director of Investor Relations for Spectranetics, a publicly traded medical device company. She was previously an analyst at a hedge fund and also worked in investment banking. Michaella is a Boettcher Scholar and summa cum laude graduate of the University of Denver. She holds both a BS in Finance and an MS in Finance with an emphasis in Not-for-profit Management. Michaella sits on the CCSF Alumni Advisory Board, the national selection committee for the Barron Prize for Young Heroes and the board for the Temple Grandin Equine Therapy Center. She is a national champion equestrian and resides in Denver, Colorado. 

Angela Harrell


Angela D. Harrell, a 1991 Scholar, is senior vice president, Corporate Responsibility, and President of Voya Foundation. Angela leads these CR efforts and the Foundation’s mission to improve the quality of life in communities where Voya Financial operates and its employees and customers live. Prior to joining Voya Financial, Angela spent 12 years at The Coca-Cola Company, where she was involved with a broad range of activities including corporate responsibility, media relations, financial and sustainability reporting, internal and executive communications, digital/social media and community affairs. Her final position with Coca-Cola was as the global director of operations, Coca-Cola Ambassador. Angela earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia and a master’s degree in international affairs from Yale University. She serves on the board of the Citizens’ Committee for Children, the advisory board of the Corporate Responsibility Association (CRA) and as a member of the World 50.

Veronica Jung


 

Veronica S. Jung, a 1997 Scholar, is the founder of Veronica S. Jung, PLLC, a New York-based employment law boutique firm that serves entrepreneurs and founders. Veronica's niche practice has developed a loyal following among clients who seek sophisticated representation through unexpected crises involving employee and/or partnership disputes. A former trial attorney in the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, Ms. Jung is a co-chair of the New York chapter of Harvard Alumni Entrepreneurs.  Veronica serves on numerous committees of national and local bar associations including: Federal Labor Standards Legislation Committee of the American Bar Association; Labor & Employment Law Committee of the New York City Bar Association; and the Labor Relations & Employment Law Committee of the New York County Lawyers’ Association. She is a former Director on the Board of the Asian American Bar Association of New York. Ms. Jung is committed to training students and young professionals in effective leadership practices; she conducts leadership workshops for young attorneys and professionals, hosted by local bar associations and community organizations. A native of South Korea, Veronica lives with her husband and two daughters in New York.  

Krystal Kappeler


 

Krystal Kappeler, a 2009 Scholar, currently serves Coca-Cola as a Market Development Manager in Laguna Beach, CA. Krystal completed her Master's in Economics coursework, and is currently researching the global economic impact of philanthropy in education through time, talent, and treasure. Her thesis topic stems from the direct impact she felt as a Coca-Cola Scholar and Boettcher Scholar, enabling her to graduate debt free. With a desire to share her strong financial acumen, Krystal previously worked at Welch Financial Planning in Boulder, Colorado and served as a guest lecturer at local colleges and universities, helping young entrepreneurs generate strategic business plans. Before this, Krystal completed her B.S. in Business Administration with a corporate finance concentration, and certificates in International Business and in Leadership. A travel enthusiast and avid SCUBA diver, Krystal has led international research studies regarding how beach economies impact coral reef ecosystems. When she is not sharing a Coke, researching philanthropy, or traveling, Krystal is teaching Zumba, Hip-Hop, and Aqua Fitness to inspire individuals of all ages and abilities to lead a healthy, active lifestyle. 

Heidi Koester Oliveira


 

Heidi Koester Oliveira, a 2001 Scholar and member of the CCSF Alumni Advisory Board, recently joined the Global Human Rights team at Mars, Incorporated, leading policy, external engagement and collaboration across the Mars business to advance respect for human rights. She focuses on the extended supply chain and origins, including actions on key issues such as modern slavery and child labor. Heidi has built her career at the intersection of business growth and societal benefit. During nearly nine years with The Coca-Cola Company, Heidi managed partnerships, communication and engagement in economic development, human rights and shared value strategies. Previously, Heidi worked in international development with the U.S. Peace Corps in rural Costa Rica. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Northwestern University and a Masters in Sustainable Development from Escuela Organización Industrial in Spain. While her roots are in Iowa, Heidi has lived in Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica and Spain. She and her husband, Augusto, live in the Washington, D.C. area.

Jamie Lathan


 

 Jamie Lathan, a 1996 Coca-Cola Scholar, is the Dean of Distance Education and Extended Programs at the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics. A 16-year educator and advocate for youth, Jamie cares deeply about social justice, educational equity, and the education of traditionally marginalized children. In his current role, he uses online technological innovations to ensure that many students in North Carolina have access to high quality teaching, curriculum, and resources. Jamie earned his B.A. in History and M.T. in Social Studies education from the University of Virginia; and his Ph.D. in Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Jamie lives in Durham, NC with his wife, Lucinda, and their two sons, AJ and Johnathan.

Chris Leahy


 

 Chris Leahy, a 1999 Scholar from St. Louis, MO, is Principal, Chief Operating Officer of RAI Insurance Group - a Corporate Insurance Brokerage Firm providing full-service Risk Management solutions for privately held companies with both domestic and international operations. As an Insurance Advisor and Broker, Chris's primary responsibility is leading specialized account teams that represent and implement all aspects of a private company's Risk Management program. He specializes in leading the firm's 'Off-Shore Captive Risk Transfer' practice, and negotiating Surety Bond treaty contracts for large manufacturing and construction clients throughout the Midwest. He earned his B.A. in Political Science and Business from Emory University in 2003, where he was a four-year NCAA athlete and team Captain on the Men's Track & Field team.

Christina Marshall - Valdez


 

Christina Marshall-Valdez, is an entrepreneur, accomplished marketing professional, and travel junkie. Originally from Waverly Hall, GA, Christina is a 2001 Coca-Cola Scholar with a bachelor degree from New York University and an MBA in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Marketing from USC Marshall School of Business (Go Trojans!). Christina started her career at leading NYC advertising and marketing firms like Spike Lee’s SpikeDDB, DiNoto Inc, Deutsch and MRM Worldwide; There she created award winning marketing strategies and campaigns for global brands including Coca-Cola (V!O, Far Coast, Chaqwa), Nikon and Captain Morgan Rum. Christina went on to become a Sr. Apparel & Accessories Buyer for Target Corporation and a Brand Manager at KraftHeinz where she co-led the $1B Kraft Mac & Cheese brand. Today Christina is an accomplished fashion technology entrepreneur and has been decorated with such honors as the Young President’s Organization (YPO) Top Entrepreneur Award, Harvard Business School’s New Venture Competition Winner, and Top 100 Online Retail Brands Award. She currently resides in Chicago, IL with her husband, Melvin. Both are obsessed with baseball and tropical adventures. 

Che Miller


 

Dr. Che Miller is a 1994 Scholar who attended the University of Oklahoma where he received his undergraduate degree with honors in Biochemistry in 1998. He then attended medical school at the University of Oklahoma where he was selected as President of his medical school class and received the OU Leadership Award and Multicultural Service Award. In 2002 he matriculated to a general and vascular surgery residency at the University of Oklahoma where he was awarded the Aesculapian Award for the most outstanding resident teacher, the Faculty Award for resident of the year, and was admitted to the prestigious Gold Humanitarian Honor Society. Dr. Miller has published articles on trauma, cardiovascular disease, meteorology, public health, residency education and disaster management. Both domestic and abroad, he volunteers his time to education and healthcare in nine nations on four continents. From ministry in a local bible school in Mexico to performing surgery in a mobile operating room in the rural Philippines, he is dedicated to world health. From this he has gained knowledge of the healthcare system across the world, studied six languages, and been recognized by the leaders of several countries including a Governor in Mindanao, Philippines and the Minister of Health in Sarajevo, Bosnia. At home, he volunteers as medical faculty at the Compassion Clinic, serves on the Admission Committee for the College of Medicine, and teaches a Sunday School class in his local church. Dr. Miller is married to wife Leah and they have two daughters Ava (9) and Ruby (7). He currently practices general and vascular surgery in Duncan, OK where he is Chief of Staff at Duncan Regional Hospital.

Hattie Mukombe


 

 Hattie Mukombe is a 2000 Coca-Cola Scholar from Graham, NC. She received her B.A. in Sociology and M.A.in Liberal Studies, both from Wake Forest University. She is currently a doctoral candidate at Northeastern University, focusing on organizational leadership and diversity management. Hattie serves as a Talent Acquisition Specialist with the Federal Emergency Management Agency in Washington, DC. Prior to joining FEMA, she spent 12 years as a higher education administrator. When she's not working or writing, Hattie enjoys good music and fellowship with family and friends.

Ben Nicol


 

Ben Nicol, a 1999 Scholar, is a self-proclaimed do-gooder who leads a non-profit that invests in today’s collegians through leadership program fellowships and academic scholarships. Working alongside donors as they realize their philanthropic passions is his professional mission! He found his passion for servant leadership during my collegiate journey at Valparaiso University after relocating to the Midwest after growing up in the City of Brotherly Love. With a strong background in leadership and fundraising, he oversees the day-to-day operations of the Phi Kappa Psi Foundation, including long-range planning, staffing, fundraising, and marketing. He met his best friend and wife Abby while in college. They are blessed to have two sons, Graham and Grier, and a daughter, Ashton. Ben enjoys volunteering for various organizations, particularly bringing the FUN back to fundraising, and also spending time with our family, friends and the two furry members of our family, Finley and Essie, two golden doodles. Running and traveling are on my hobby list too!           

Kari Philbeck


 

Kari Philbeck is a proud 1994 Coca-Cola Scholar. Coca-Cola strongly influenced her life by not only assisting with her college education; it led her down a career path that she is proud of. She works for Coca-Cola North America in Las Vegas, NV, as a Senior Sales Executive managing gaming customers, negotiating their agreements, and building programs that will mutually grow our business. Kari is originally from Southern California, but has lived in Las Vegas for the last 18 years. She is involved in the community through the Junior League of Las Vegas. She has a passion and commitment for the Polly Klaas Foundation and the Klaas Kids Foundation as the purpose of these two organizations is to stop crimes against children through laws and actively support the national finger print data base effort for children. She is happily married to a southern gentlemen who is extremely supportive and their biggest responsibility, pride, and joy is raising their four children. She applies the following quote to her life, is trying to instill it in her children, and challenges the new class of Coca-Cola Scholars to apply it to their life: “Sometimes it falls upon a generation to be great. Daron Roberts


 

 Daron K. Roberts, a 1997 Scholar, is a former NFL coach and author of, Call an Audible: Let My Pivot from Harvard Law to NFL Coach Inspire Your Transition (Greenleaf 2017). Call an Audible was named a #1 New Release and Best Seller by Amazon and Sports Illustrated selected the book as one of its “Best Sports Business Books of 2017.”  Roberts serves as founding director of the Center for Sports Leadership and Innovation (CSLi) at the University of Texas. He created CSLi in the fall of 2014. After graduating from Harvard Law School (2007), Roberts served coaching stints with the Kansas City Chiefs, Detroit Lions, West Virginia Mountaineers and Cleveland Browns. He holds a B.A. in Plan II Honors and Government from the University of Texas (2001) and an M.P.P. from Harvard’s Kennedy School (2004). Daron is a member of the CCSF Alumni Advisory Board and lives in Austin, TX with his wife and four kids.

Will Schultz


 

Will Schultz, a 1994 Scholar, is a shareholder at Merchant & Gould, an intellectual property law firm located in Minneapolis. Will specializes in Internet law related to counterfeiting, brand enforcement, social media, and domain name issues, including working with law enforcement and the courts to enforce trademarks, copyrights, and patents against counterfeiters. Will’s passion for Internet law began in 1995 as a foreign exchange student in Spain. He first programmed a website in Spanish, eventually turning that passion into two startup Internet businesses. Will also worked at Dice.com, an Internet recruiting company for high-tech jobs. Will graduated from Drake University in 1999 with a B.S. in Marketing, and Drake Law School in 2002, both with honors. A teacher at heart, Will has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota Law School and the University of Saint Thomas, teaching intellectual property and appellate advocacy courses. He also coached mock trial and moot court teams at Drake University and the University of Minnesota. Will developed and presents a nationwide CyberWorld seminar with featured topics such as anti-counterfeiting and cybersecurity. Will enjoys spending time with his wife and four kids, coaching youth hockey, and supporting his kids in alpine ski racing and dressage. 

Joe Semsar


 

 Joe Semsar, a 2005 Coca-Cola Scholar, currently works as a Business Management Consultant for Deloitte Consulting LLP. Semsar holds his Bachelor of Arts from Clemson University and his Masters of Public Administration from the University of Pennsylvania. Previously, he worked as a Teach For America corps member in Baton Rouge, LA, where he received a Teacher of the Year award. Joe and his wife Jenna live in Mount Pleasant, SC.  

Erica Tuggle


 

Erica Tuggle, a 2001 Scholar, grew up in New Milford, CT, pursuing her love of creative industries through dance and acting. Eventually she found the perfect combination of creativity and business that is Marketing. She attended New York University Leonard N. Stern School of Business and began her career in Marketing at American Express. Later, she received her MBA from Harvard Business School, and went on to work at General Mills, where she launched Yoplait Greek Blended. Erica now works at The Coca-Cola Company. She has been with the company for nearly four years, first as Brand Manager for Sprite, the company’s second largest brand worldwide, and currently as the Senior Brand and Innovation Manager for Honest Tea.  Family is extremely important to Erica, so she enjoys spending time with her husband, Nathan, and is blessed to be the mother of their wonderful son, Jordan. Whenever she has the opportunity, Erica loves to travel and try new restaurants. She looks forward to being a facilitator at the Leadership Development Institute for the second year and being inspired by the always impressive Coca-Cola Scholars.

Samuel Wakefield


 

Samuel Wakefield, a 2001 Coke Scholar, has been leading community building efforts for well over a decade. Over the past few years he has led strategic planning efforts for communities in South Fulton, comprised of 30 public schools and a population of over 100,000 residents across the schools. Prior to joining Fulton County, he led numerous teams at Teach For America, including pioneering several community leadership development programs. Before that, he worked as a community building fellow with the Annie Casey Foundation, laying the groundwork for Atlanta's Neighborhood Count's program. Samuel's undergraduate background from Emory University is in Political Science and Economics, with a minor in Community Building and Social Change. He acquired his Master's in Public Administration from Georgia State's Andrew Young School of Public Policy with concentrations in Nonprofit Management and Leadership Development. Ever the character, his most important roles are those of husband and father to three precocious daughters. He’s also a published author on fatherhood, avid blogger, and wannabe superhero.
