Why come to the Service Summit?

Just ask alumni who came to the 2016 Austin and 2015 Miami Service Summits!

Victor Lopez at the 2016 Service Summit in Austin

“At the Service Summit, I pledged to continue pursuing my graduate education in engineering, become a tactical expert in my aircraft and to reach out to students in Las Vegas with more educational and college opportunities through FIRST Robotics. After the Service Summit, I started my flight lead upgrade at work, researched graduate applications for the Fall of 2017 for Purdue and Georgia Tech online, and began working with students at an underserved school in Central Las Vegas who lost all their robotics mentors to teach programming, design, and build to prepare them for college. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am forever in debt to the foundation for helping to connect me with people who have never forgotten that they can change the world.”

Arthur Schmidt at the 2016 Service Summit in Austin

“After attending the Service Summit, I was inspired to organize a volunteer day for staff in my office. Fast forward to today, I've established a volunteer club at work so that individuals can contribute to smaller occasions to volunteer as these opportunities present themselves.

I am also looking to organize local teachers in my neighborhood so that funds can be raised for teachers to prep classrooms at beginning of school year.”

The big takeaway from the Service Summit was that it is okay to start small. ”

Ofelia Cancio at the 2016 Service Summit in Austin

“I had such an amazing time reconnecting with all of the Scholars. Each day was full of exciting and helpful information that inspired me to push further for change in my own community. I am so glad I stayed for the Sunday breakfast because it really sent me off reinvigorated, reignited my passion for helping others, and helped me feel connected to a network of so many fellow Scholars that are as zealous as I am to make a difference. The biggest takeaway for me is that I cannot make an impact alone. I am part of a network of extremely talented people with the passion for helping others and we can all work together to make the biggest impact possible.”

Hunter Hammond

“The fun I had during the Service Summit was shocking. I felt like I was back at the initial Coca-Cola interview weekend and was getting to know these incredible people all over again. It is so easy to become distracted by the pressures and stress of our everyday life. The Service Summit served as a well-timed escape to help me reflect on my priorities and make a commitment to myself about where I hope to be in the years to come.”

Nadia Kemal

"Attending the 2015 Miami Service Summit was one of the most memorable experiences of my collegiate career. As a Floridian, it was an honor to be able to network with local and state leaders regarding sustainability and educational policy. Listening to the testimonies of fellow Scholars during the "Why Do You Do What You Do" round table discussions allowed for an intimate and inspiring experience that left me motivated to accomplish my goals. Painting the walls of Cutler Bay Middle School an array of designs was an experience filled with laughter, tears of joy and high-fives galore. I can't wait to see what CCSF has planned for Austin, TX!"

Khalid Osman

"My father always told me that a great man is someone who inspires greatness in others. Attending the Service Summit reinforced this valuable life lesson—that our actions as Coca-Cola Scholars will determine the impact our legacy will have on future generations to come."

TJ Abrams

"The best part of any CCSF event is always the people. Normally, it’s the gathering of amazing alumni Scholars from all over the world that gets me excited about reconnecting, but the Service Summit gave us the unique opportunity to also connect with corporate and civic game changers in the beautifully diverse city of Miami. We covered a lot of ground in just a few days, but the Summit left me with memories and tools that I will carry forward for a lifetime."

- TJ Abrams, 2001
