Saturday, August 26

Focus: Service, Community Revitalization, and Urban Sustainability

7:00 a.m.   Group Run
    For those interested, meet in the Magnolia Hotel lobby.
    (Breakfast is on your own at your leisure.)
     
9:00 a.m.   Buses Depart for Community Service Site
     
9:30 a.m.   Community Service begins!
    We will team up with City Year Denver, the Wilfley Boys & Girls Club of Metro Denver, and the Denver Parks and Recreation team to "Scrub a Club" at the Wilfley BGC and clean up Aztlan Park next door. Our group will be stationed all over the park and BGC building doing different projects like landscaping, cleaning the building and buses, painting a game room, striping the football field, building cubbies, and building gardens. 
    *Please wear close-toed shoes and the Service Summit shirt you will receive at registration.
     
12:30p.m.   Group photo and Lunch
     
1:30 p.m.   Leave site to return to the hotel
     
4:00 p.m.   Urban Development Discussion and Group Activity
    We will meet at the Crawford Hotel (1701 Wynkoop St.) in the Gallery Room downstairs, next to the historic, award-winning Union Station where Chris Frampton, the Managing Partner of EWP who developed Union Station, and Chris Spelke of Denver Housing Authority will talk about its history, funding, and impact on the city and affordable housing communities. From there, we will break into small groups and explore the city around Union Station in a fun way!
     
6:30 p.m.   Burgers and Brews at Wynkoop Brewing Company
    1634 18th Street, Denver, CO 80202, Morey/Brown Room
    There are pool tables, darts, and more. You won't want to miss this fun evening out with fellow Coke Scholars! Dinner is included in your registration fee, and there will be an optional tasting led by the brewmaster.
     
10:30p.m.   Return to the hotel
    We will be using public transportation and you are welcome to head back anytime you wish.

Focus: Philanthropy in the Public and Private Sectors

Sunday events will take place at the Magnolia Hotel in the Magnolia Ballroom.

    Inspire Integrity: Chase An Authentic Life
    Corey's most popular talk encourages audiences to chase the truly important things in life such as a solid character, strong personal relationships and a sense of contentment. These “real rabbits” are compared and contrasted to worldly success such as excessive wealth, popularity, and prestige. Audience members leave with a better sense of what it takes to develop character, set priorities, gain a big-picture perspective and chase an authentic life.

Learn about the secret sauce of Toyota’s success, how business principles can be applied in the nonprofit sector, and how to implement Kaizen “Change for the Better” in service to put your ideas into action!
     
11:00a.m.   Moving Forward: Scholar Service Pledges
    Jason Pate (2005) and TJ Abrams (2001) will lead everyone in a reflective exercise as we think about how we will pledge to take what we have learned back to our communities.
