Sandy Williams Alumni Legacy Scholar

The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation invites members of the 2023 class of Scholars to nominate a peer to be named the Sandy Williams Alumni Legacy Scholar (SWALS).

Mr. Williams served as chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Directors for 14 years and as President of Corinth Coca-Cola Bottling Co. in Mississippi. Mr. Williams is a humble servant leader, dedicated to bettering his community and profession through selfless action.

The selected SWALS should embody and live those values and meet the criteria oulined below.

Benefits of selection as the SWALS

  • Support to attend a Service Summit or Leadership Summit, if one is scheduled during the SWALS term of service (i.e., the last two years of college).
  • Service on the Foundation’s Alumni Board (AB) during the third and fourth years of college, including attending the annual AB retreat. (The Foundation will cover travel expenses.) SWALS may be considered for later service on the AB after graduation.
  • Connecting with Mr. Williams

Selection Criteria

The recipient of the SWALS should be someone on track to become an active and passionate Coca-Cola Scholar alumnus. The ideal SWALS recipient meets the following criteria:

  • a record showing solid contributions and impact to both their college and Coke Scholar community through engagement, leadership, and service
  • a clear passion for and record of creating and leading initiatives to educate, enrich, and/or serve others
  • a track record of leveraging the Coca-Cola Scholars leadership pillars of self-awareness, vision, empathy, and inspiration
  • works to make connections within their Scholar cohort however they can -- in person or virtually, individually or in groups

Selection Timeline for 2025 (2023 Scholars)

February 13 | Call for Peer Nominations opens

February 27 | Live SWALS info session, 7 pm ET (invitation sent on Feb. 20)

March 10 | Peer Nominations due

Mid-March | Select nominees invited to submit full application

April 21 | Applications due

May | Announcement of the 2023 Scholar SWALS!
